A small but growing population of beauty ‘bloggers’ is taking over Instagram, purely with their obsession with makeup and skincare. These microbloggers are easy to spot: an Instagram feed full of aesthetic cult products, captions containing honest impressions and verdicts of beauty products, and extremely applaudable product photography skills. Some of them are so good at what they do, that they get spotted by the brands they reviewed and signed on as reps or spokespersons. One such example is @ameliaasays, whose love for Glossier products led to her being signed on as part of the Glossier Rep Program (you know, those people with special discount codes for you if you quote their name/shop under their page). Don’t be fooled though! Becoming a successful beauty blogger, on whatever social media platform, is not an overnight feat. Bloggers like @ameliaasays invested a lot of time in their reviews, turning an ‘obsession’ into a form of reliable aid for all those girls (and guys maybe) who need help to find a beauty routine for their skin types. Count me in as one of those hopeless (and broke) beauty amateur who binge reads/follows these bloggers for firsthand dips on essentials minimalist beauty lovers should have:

The Glossier Rep girl definitely has a ton of Glossier products in her #shelfies (selfies of beauty shelves), but we can see the inclusion of staples from other brands in her skincare routine. The bottle of Bobby Brown Beach Body Oil is an explosion of pink aesthetics, while the inclusion of a few high-end Chanel products here and there really adds a whole new level of luxury to the table.

@sortofobsessed loves pink hues on her Instagram feed, but that doesn’t stop her from getting her hands on really high-performing beauty products (that happened to be in pink too). We recently got our hands on the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, and we only have a ton of good things to say about it. Misting the facial spray all over your face in midday really freshens you up with the rosy scent. Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk also happens to be my favourite go-to colour for that natural, slightly bronzed cheeks (you can use it for contouring too). The best thing about Glossier Cloud Paints? You can mix between colours to get your own personal fave cheek flush. The All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF45/PA+++ by Korean brand Missha has also been infiltrating the homes of international beauty bloggers because of how well it works with makeup. The journey of finding a lightweight sunscreen that leaves no white cast ends when you get your hands on the product.

Without a doubt, @sofieuh definitely has more good hair days than the average population. Just look at the sheer amount of OUAI hair products on her feed. The long, luscious black hair steals the show in her selfies, and we now know what products she owes them to. We followed Jenn Im’s simple way of using the OUAI Wave Spray: Mist it all over wet/showered hair (you can scoop small chunks of hair and twirl them as you spray), and just let your hair dry naturally without touching it. Letting your damp hair dry naturally with the product gives your hair a natural, wavy texture without the dramatic air-blown hair effect. The best way to describe the OUAI Wave Spray to anyone: an easy to get natural beach waves without expensive heat curlers. Just look at @sofieuh’s hair game and you’ll know. Also, did we mention that we really want a whiff of the Pulp Eau De Parfum by BYREDO PARFUMS and the diptyque Philosykos Eau de Toilette?

@beaute.defile is one of those beauty bloggers who represents all brands equally on her feed, courageously experimenting with new things and giving her followers her two cents on the products. We love how she incorporates vitamins and thorough cleansing into her daily routine with the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum and the BIODERMA Sensibio H2O Micellar Water. While testing out highly-raved about products, @beaute.defile never fails to shower some love for young, independent brands such as SUK.
