Most of us are pretty used to dressing for summer all year round, so what happens when we get the chance to go for a holiday/ school exchange etc. somewhere much colder? Don’t worry about having to run into your nearest uniqlo to grab every single item that promises you warmth, here is a mini guide to dressing for colder weather! Before we start, just keep in mind that the most important thing is to layer!
- Sweater Weather
- Bomber Jackets
- A Mix of Formal and Casual
- Leather Jackets
Sweater weather is one of the best times of the year. You don’t feel the need for air-conditioning 24/7 nor do you feel like staying wrapped up in bed all day. For weather like that, a simple sweater can be worn with flowy pants to give you the most comfortable outfit ever! Pairing your outfit with some heeled boots will make everything complete, of course unless your school is right at the top of a hill, and you have the stamina of a baby sloth.
Outfit tip! It tends to be really cold in the morning/night, and much warmer in the day. Wear a thin layer underneath to prepare for the change in weather!

If you’re looking for a little more texture in your outfit, a jacket with mixed textures can help! Wide leg jeans are pretty practical, and they can keep you comfortable as well. Depending on how much you are planning to walk, a pair of sandals can add so much more detail to your outfit!
Outfit tip! Match everything with a cute furry bag that will ensure you are 2 cute 4 skool.

If it isn’t too cold out, a nice bomber jacket will do the trick! Pair it together with some ripped jeans (contrary to popular belief, they still keep you warm despite the holes) and sneakers for a quick outfit for school!
Outfit tip! Pull your outfit together with a nice cap if you still get some sun where you are.

If you’re looking for something a little more formal, a nice coat will be perfect. Jeans and sneakers are really versatile and can help tie your whole outfit together too! Don’t worry too much about mixing up formal and casual stuff, it comes together rather nicely in the end.
Outfit tip! Coats with hoods are so great for wet weather, so look for something with a hood to ensure that you can sing in the rain, and not cry.

A leather jacket is a classic look and goes with just about anything. It is almost too easy to grab it as you’re going out the door, and yet it makes you look like you’ve got your stuff together. Mostly. Pair it with some cropped jeans and leather shoes to give that little bit of edge!
Outfit tip! If a black leather jacket is too much for you, try going for a suede material with muted colours like this one here.

Lastly, layering is extremely important because you can always put on/take off those layers throughout the day when the temperature changes, or when you are indoors/outdoors. These outfits are here to provide you with inspiration, here’s hoping they gave you a better idea of how to dress for colder weather!
